SNEF names Poon Hong Yuen as next CEO

He will formally take over on 1 December.

The Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) has named Poon Hong Yuen as its next CEO, effective 1 December.

Poon, who will sit as CEO-designate starting 1 November, will succeed Hao Shuo, who is leaving SNEF after his appointment in December 2024 to take up a new appointment in the public service, the federation said.

Poon is currently deputy secretary at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information. He previously served as deputy secretary (workforce) at the Ministry of Manpower and chief executive of SPRING Singapore.

SNEF president Kuah Boon Wee said Poon’s experience in workforce policy, enterprise development, and the digital economy would help SNEF represent employers and support workforce transformation.

SNEF added that it will work with tripartite partners to turn workforce and technological change into new opportunities for businesses and workers under Poon's leadership.

SNEF also acknowledged Hao’s leadership. During his tenure, SNEF’s membership grew to more than 4,000 corporate members, representing about 900,000 employees.

More than 700 employers also took part in workplace and workforce transformation programmes administered by the federation, benefiting more than 3,200 employees, SNEF added.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
