A*STAR expands research startup hub to fast-track deep tech ventures
Alumni ventures raised over $1.6b and created 1,800 jobs across more than 100 startups.
The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) has launched A*StartCentral 2.0 (A*SC), expanding support for founders looking to turn research into commercial products and scale their ventures.
Under the expanded programme, A*SC's facilities have grown from 10,000 square feet (sq ft) to 18,000 sq ft, A*STAR said.
Life sciences and chemistry facilities have doubled from 4,000 sq ft of open bench space to 8,000 sq ft of laboratory suites and open benches, designed to strengthen intellectual property protection and reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
The engineering workshop has also been upgraded to support advanced prototyping and pre-compliance testing. It includes a radio-frequency shielding room, as well as equipment for metal 3D printing, printed circuit board fabrication, metal laser cutting and materials testing.
A*SC has supported more than 100 ventures over the past decade, which have collectively raised more than $1.6b and created over 1,800 jobs, A*STAR said.
