WSH Council launches AI safety tool as workplace injuries rise 2.5%

Reported workplace injuries rose 2.5% despite record-low fatal injury rates.

The Workplace Safety and Health Council (WSH Council), in partnership with the Singapore Institution of Safety Officers, has launched the Safety Advisory and Guidance Engine (SAGE) that will help professionals make faster, more consistent safety decisions in the workplace.

Announced by Minister of State for Manpower Dinesh Vasu Dash, SAGE is an artificial intelligence-enabled tool that helps WSH professionals retrieve relevant information, identify workplace hazards, and apply best-practice control measures based on Singapore's WSH framework.

The tool aims to make authoritative guidance easier to access whilst complementing the experience and professional judgement of WSH practitioners.

The move comes as Singapore's workplace fatal injury rate fell to a record low of 0.96 per 100,000 workers in 2025, according to the Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) Workplace Safety and Health Report 2025.

The major injury rate across most workplace settings also declined to an all-time low of 15.7 per 100,000 workers. However, reported workplace injuries rose by 2.5%, underscoring the need for continued vigilance, the report said.

Workplace risks are becoming more complex as an ageing workforce, unpredictable weather, and new technologies reshape the risks employers, workers, and WSH professionals face, said Abu Bakar Bin Mohd Nor, chairman of the WSH Council.

Dash also announced the Alliance for Action on Safety and Health for Employment Longevity, which aims to support workers in remaining in or returning safely to employment after injury or illness.

The WSH Council also introduced a WhatsApp Channel to provide employers, workers, and WSH practitioners with mobile-first access to alerts, advisories, and resources, complementing its existing bulletin, social media channels, and website.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
