Prudential opens unit trusts to 5,400 agents

The expansion starts in 2027 and adds wealth accumulation products to tied-agency consultations.

Prudential Singapore has announced that all 5,400 of its tied-agency financial representatives will begin offering unit trusts and other wealth accumulation products starting in 2027.

Currently, Prudential customers can only access unit trusts through the company’s dedicated financial advisory arm, Prudential Financial Advisers Singapore (PFA).

With this, Prudential's tied-agency representatives can now distribute unit trusts, complementing its life and health insurance solutions, the insurer said.

The company stated that the move comes in response to rising demand for broader financial advice, allowing clients to discuss protection, health, savings, and retirement planning within a single consultation.

In order to advise customers on unit trusts, the financial representatives will have to complete training and attain Capital Markets and Financial Advisory Services (CMFAS) certification.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
