Factory-gate prices surge 47.5% in September
It marked the ninth consecutive month of YoY gains since January.
The Singapore Manufactured Products Price Index (SMPPI) surged 47.5% year on year in September, up from 40.1% in August, according to the Department of Statistics.
This marks the ninth consecutive month of YoY increases in the price index since January 2026.
The oil index rose 58.9% from 48.1%, whilst the non-oil index maintained its upward trajectory, rising 45.8% from 38.9%.
Meanwhile, the Domestic Supply Price Index posted a steep gain of 48% from 38.8%, extending the strong growth seen in recent months.
Its oil index sharply accelerated to 78.9% from 57.4%, whilst the non-oil index rose 38.2% from 33%.
The department attributed the increases in the oil indices to higher prices of petroleum and petroleum products against the backdrop of the Middle East conflict.
Increases in the non-oil indices, on the other hand, were largely due to higher prices of electrical machinery apparatus such as electronic integrated circuits.
