ComfortDelGro inks two China deals to build out AV ecosystem

The agreements include support for smart parking, charging, and energy systems in China.

Singapore-based ComfortDelGro signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) covering autonomous vehicle (AV) and smart mobility infrastructure in China at the 16th Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council meeting.

The first MoU, with China Construction Science and Industry Corporation, focuses on sustainable urban mobility and smart infrastructure, combining ComfortDelGro's transport operating experience with the firm's engineering and construction capabilities across robotaxi hubs, intelligent parking, EV charging, and energy management.

The second, with Guangdong Zhenghe Intelligent Equipment, centres on an "Air-Ground Integrated Smart Hub" combining smart vertical parking, new-energy infrastructure, and low-altitude economy hubs, with pilot projects planned in Guangzhou in 2026.

The company said the agreements will strengthen its AV capabilities and supporting infrastructure, including systems needed for large-scale deployment of autonomous taxi services, in a press release.

ComfortDelGro has also set up a wholly owned subsidiary in Shenzhen, which the company said marks a step toward establishing a regional autonomous mobility headquarters and centre of excellence.

"Guangdong is central to our strategy of building a robust autonomous mobility ecosystem. Our newly established wholly owned subsidiary in Shenzhen marks a key step in developing a regional autonomous mobility headquarters and centre of excellence," said Cheng Siak Kian, managing director/group CEO at ComfortDelGro.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
