Fixed broadband revenue to rise 3% annually until 2030, GlobalData says

Residential lines are forecast to expand faster over the same period.

Singapore’s fixed broadband revenue is forecast to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.1% from 2025 to 2031, driven by rising subscriptions and demand for multi-gigabit fiber plans, according to GlobalData.

Residential fixed broadband lines are forecast to grow at a 3.6% CAGR over the forecast period due to rising household demand for remote working, home entertainment, and smart-home connectivity.

Business fixed broadband revenue is forecast to grow at a 3% CAGR over the same period, GlobalData added.

This growth will be driven by enterprises adopting higher-capacity fiber plans to support cloud services, video collaboration, and data-intensive applications.

Fiber will account for 99.7% of fixed broadband lines in 2025 and maintain its near-total share through 2031, said Sarwat Zeeshan, an analyst at GlobalData.

Government-led network upgrades are accelerating the shift to multi-gigabit connectivity, including plans to deliver symmetrical 10Gbps speeds nationwide by 2026, she added.

“The government has committed up to $100m. By 2028, more than half a million households across the country are expected to benefit from the enhanced broadband infrastructure,” Zeeshan said.

Operators are expected to expand 10Gbps and Wi-Fi 7 bundles, fixed-mobile convergence offers, and security add-ons, she added.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
