HSBC Private Bank makes two senior appointments in Singapore

The bank announced three new desk heads and a Global India franchise lead.

HSBC Private Bank has announced new senior leadership appointments for its Singapore operations.

Lay Hong Tan also joins from UBS Singapore as HSBC’s desk head in the Singapore market.

Jay See also joins the team as desk head, Offshore China Market (Singapore).

Tan joins from UBS Singapore, where she was previously market team head. In HSBC, she will lead a Singapore Domestic coverage team, focusing on Singapore ultra-high net worth (UHNW) and high net worth (HNW) families as well as Mandarin-speaking clients in the region.

See, who was most recently a China coverage specialist at Credit Suisse/UBS, is tasked with strengthening HSBC’s connectivity across Greater China and Southeast Asia and further enhancing HSBC’s China franchise.

Outside of Singapore, Vivek Pandohi has been appointed to lead the Global India franchise in the Middle East, whilst Harjeet Singh has joined the franchise as senior desk head for Global India in Singapore.

Pandohi has held senior leadership roles within HSBC Private Bank in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the past decade and was most recently leading the bank’s UAE Global India & Expat business.

In his new role, Pandohi will lead Global India coverage across Middle East markets and is tasked with expanding coverage across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), HSBC Private Bank said.

Singh joins from Bank of Singapore, where he spent the past nine years of his career. He was most recently managing director and market head leading the Global South Asia business.

In his new role with HSBC, Singh will lead one of HSBC Private Bank’s Global India desks in Singapore. He is tasked with helping grow the business in the region and further strengthening HSBC’s capabilities in a key strategic client segment, the bank said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
