Deliveroo Singapore opens safety programme for riders

The programme targets riders of power-assisted bicycles and personal mobility devices.

Deliveroo announced its Safe Riding Programme (SRP) to educate cyclists and riders of power-assisted bicycles (PABs) and personal mobility devices (PMDs) on safe riding practices covered by the Active Mobility Act.

Monthly sessions will be organised and offered to Deliveroo’s riders across Singapore on a first-come-first-served basis in the coming months. The first session was attended by 40 riders, Deliveroo said.

Deliveroo is also offering 360 guidance by incorporating key content from the SRP curriculum into its existing road safety guidelines.

“Information on how riders can sign up for upcoming SRP sessions will be readily made available, and Deliveroo’s rider operations team will proactively encourage both new and existing riders to attend,” the company said.

Deliveroo riders are currently provided access to hyper-visible safety clothing and equipment, whilst food delivery riders are given accident and injury insurance for free.

Deliveroo Singapore general manager Siddharth Shanker said, “The team is committed to working with the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to make the Safe Riding Programme available to help our 4,000-strong rider fleet stay safe while doing deliveries, as well as be fully in compliance with updated road regulations.”

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
