ST Engineering wins $750m Taiwan rail contract

The seven-year project is expected to start in the fourth quarter.

ST Engineering, through its Urban Solutions business, has secured a $750m turnkey rail services contract for the Taoyuan MRT Green Line Extension in Taiwan.

Project execution is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter and will run over seven years.

Under the contract, the group will lead overall project management and systems integration.

It will also provide rail electronics systems, including supervisory control and data acquisition, communications, automatic fare collection, and platform screen doors.

Meanwhile, its consortium partner Hyundai Rotem will provide the power supply system and rolling stock.

ST Engineering will work with its partners to oversee the integration and delivery of other project components, including signalling, depot equipment, and track works.

The 7.2km Taoyuan MRT Green Line Extension will comprise five stations and forms part of Taoyuan’s broader rail development plans.

The contract was awarded by the Taoyuan City Government.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
