Boditech targets Singapore diagnostic testing market

Point-of-care testing could shorten hospital turnaround times, but market entry hinges on regulation.

Boditech Med Inc. is assessing Singapore as a potential market for its hospital-based diagnostic testing equipment as healthcare providers look to shorten turnaround times for routine immunology tests.

Speaking at the 2026 Gangwon Biohealth Press Tour, Lee Yong Jun, Sales Manager of Boditech Med’s Domestic Sales Division, said the company’s Apias system is designed for tests including diabetes and vitamin levels.

“We provide testing equipment that generates results immediately right there in the hospital,” Lee said.

That system is used across diagnostic laboratories in local clinics, general hospitals and university hospitals, serving both inpatients and outpatients.

For healthcare operators, the commercial value lies in reducing the time between testing, clinical assessment and prescription, particularly where faster results can improve workflow efficiency.

Lee said the Singapore opportunity would depend on how well the system fits local regulatory requirements and hospital procurement processes. He acknowledged that Boditech does not yet have a detailed understanding of Singapore’s regulatory framework, but said the market’s sensitivity to healthcare standards makes compliance a key consideration for expansion.

“If there are opportunities to collaborate with countries like Singapore, and if we can share the value of our healthcare and biotech industries with each of these countries, there’s no reason for our company not to participate,” Lee said.

For Korean diagnostic suppliers, Singapore presents a market where product performance alone is unlikely to determine adoption.

Commercial viability will also depend on regulatory clearance, integration with existing laboratory workflows and whether hospitals see enough operational value to justify switching or adding equipment.

That makes market access less about broad regional expansion and more about proving that faster in-hospital testing can fit established clinical and procurement systems.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
