SIA and Air India end bundle-only rule on 126 India-Singapore flights
The eight cities covered include Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) will allow customers to book India-Singapore flights on a standalone basis from 15 October, under the first phase of their Commercial Cooperation Framework Agreement.
Under the existing arrangement, an eligible Air India-operated codeshare flight booked through SIA must include an SIA-operated flight, and vice versa. The change will allow customers to book eligible flights operated by either airline on a standalone basis through the other carrier's website, mobile app, and appointed travel agencies.
The change covers 126 weekly flights between Singapore and eight Indian cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata and Mumbai.
"By building on the strengths of our two airlines, we aim to bring greater consistency to the travel experience of our common customers between India and Singapore, whilst delivering greater choice, convenience and value," said Nipun Agarwal, chief commercial officer of Air India.
In April, the airlines expanded mileage earning, so Maharaja Club and KrisFlyer members can earn miles on a wider range of flights operated by either airline.
From the second quarter of 2027, Maharaja Club Platinum and KrisFlyer PPS Club members can avail priority check-in and boarding. Maharaja Club Silver and KrisFlyer Elite Silver members will receive extra baggage allowance and priority boarding on eligible routes.
The airlines are also working on improved schedule connectivity to reduce layovers and waiting times, enhanced offerings for corporate customers, and other measures to streamline travel.
Air India and SIA currently codeshare on 77 destinations across 27 countries and territories. Through hubs in Delhi, Mumbai and Singapore, they give customers access to destinations across Asia, Europe, North America, Australia and beyond.
