Gov’t extends 4% CPF interest floor to 2027

The Ordinary Account interest rate will remain at 2.5% per annum over the same period.

The government will extend the 4% interest rate floor for monies held in the Special, MediSave, and Retirement Accounts (SMRA) for another year, from 1 January to 31 December 2027.

The SMRA interest rate will remain at 4% per annum from 1 October to 31 December 2026, as its pegged rate remains below the floor.

The SMRA rate is pegged to the 12-month average yield of 10-year Singapore Government Securities (10YSGS), plus 1%.

The Ordinary Account (OA) interest rate will also remain unchanged at 2.5% per annum for the same period, as its pegged rate remains below the 2.5% floor.

The concessionary interest rate for HDB housing loans, which is pegged at 0.1 percentage points above the OA interest rate, will remain at 2.6% per annum from 1 October to 31 December 2026.

CPF members will continue to receive additional interest on their savings.

Members below 55 will earn an extra 1% interest on the first $60,000 of their combined CPF balances, subject to a $20,000 cap on OA balances.

For members aged 55 and above, the government pays an extra 2% interest on the first $30,000 of their combined balances, subject to the same $20,000 OA cap, and an extra 1% on the next $30,000.

Additional interest earned on OA balances will be credited to the member’s special account or retirement account.

For members above 55 who participate in CPF LIFE, the additional interest will continue to apply to their combined CPF balances, including savings used for CPF LIFE.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
