SATS develops a smartwatch solution for technical ramp operations

It supports SATS’ operations at Changi Airport.

Airport ground handling and food solutions services provider SATS collaborated with Tata Consultancy Services to develop a smartwatch solution that is believed to be the world’s first mobile solution for airport technical ramp operations. The solution is now supporting SATS’ operations at Singapore’s Changi Airport.

The solution was designed to increase operational efficiency by streamlining on-ground processes and enhancing communication, productivity, and safety, through technology. It provides tech ramp workers with real-time job and task notifications on-the-go, and ensures staff are kept updated remotely, whilst reducing reliance on older technology like walkie-talkies.

SATS president and chief executive officer Alex Hungate said the Internet of Things mobile solution digitally enhances user experience for tech ramp personnel. He noted that SATS tech ramp agents previously had to physically visit the control centre to check rosters and receive updates.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
