Almost half of Singaporean workers support equal parental leave

Workers aged 18 to 24 are most supportive of the initiative.

Over four in 10 (47%) workers in Singapore support equal parental leave, a survey by Indeed revealed.

The survey comes months after the Singapore government proposed to increase government-paid paternity leave.

Amongst age groups, workers aged 18 to 24 (55%) and 25 to 34 (51%) are most supportive of equal parental leave.

In terms of sector, Indeed said working parents in IT will likely receive additional paid parental leave (44%), followed by those in retail & consumer (42%) and financial services (39%) industries

Meanwhile, legal (43%), public sector (36%) and the built environment (36%) were the top industries to offer additional paid maternity leave. Additional unpaid parental leave was offered most to those in arts & culture (41%), HR (38%) and energy & utilities (35%).

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
