A rough landing: Changi slips to 3rd place in World’s Top Airports

Doha Hamad and Tokyo Haneda break Singapore Changi’s seven year streak as the world’s best airport.

Changi Airport is no longer the World’s Top Airport for 2021, landing in third after consistently being on top since 2013.

Its winning streak was broken by Qatar’s Hamad International Airport in the first place and Japan’s Tokyo Haneda Airport, second, according to Skytrax’s 2021 World Airport Awards.

The World’s Top 10 Airports of 2021 are as follows:

  1. Hamad International Airport (Qatar)

  2. Tokyo Haneda Airport (Japan)

  3. Singapore Changi Airport

  4. Incheon International Airport (South Korea)

  5. Narita International Airport (Japan)

  6. Munich Airport (Germany)

  7. Zurich Airport (Switzerland)

  8. London Heathrow Airport (UK)

  9. Kansai International Airport (Japan)

  10. Hong Kong International Airport

Changi Airport still bagged the World’s Best Airport in the 10 to 15 million Passengers category, Worlds Best Airport Staff, and Best Airport Staff in Asia awards.

It also landed a spot in the non-ranked 2021 COVID-19 Airport Excellence Awards, based on key categories such as providing COVID-19 information signage, enforcing face mask usage, making hand sanitisers available, and implementing social distancing.

The awards were based on votes from airport customers from across the world during the 2020 to 2021 World Airport Survey period.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
