Anthropic sets up Singapore office amidst strong Claude demand

The company has appointed Dale Finlay as General Manager of ASEAN.

Anthropic will open an office in Singapore in October as the artificial intelligence company expands its presence across Asia-Pacific.

“As we grow across Asia-Pacific, opening an office in Singapore—where Claude usage per capita is among the highest in the world—is a natural next step,” said Chris Ciauri, Managing Director of International at Anthropic. “A presence here means we can hire the people who know this market best and work side by side with local customers and partners building with Claude.”

The Singapore office will be Anthropic’s fifth in the region, following existing locations in Tokyo, Bengaluru, Seoul, and Sydney.

Singapore is already one of Anthropic’s strongest markets for Claude.

The company’s latest Economic Index ranks Singapore second amongst 121 countries for Claude.ai usage relative to population.

Usage in the country is 5.81 times higher than expected based on its population size.

Anthropic said demand in Singapore has been particularly strong amongst regulated industries, including financial services and government.

The company plans to work with organisations ranging from startups and digital-native businesses to large enterprises and public-sector bodies.

The company has also appointed Dale Finlay as General Manager of ASEAN.

Based in Singapore, Finlay will oversee work with customers and partners across Southeast Asia.

Finlay previously held go-to-market leadership roles at technology companies across Asia-Pacific, including nearly a decade at Google Cloud, where his roles covered AI, financial services, and enterprise.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
