Manufacturing output up 15.4% in August

All clusters except chemicals posted year-on-year growth.

All clusters except chemicals posted year-on-year growth.

Precision engineering grew 33.9%, led by higher semiconductor equipment production in the machinery and systems segment. Precision modules and components also increased output of dies, moulds, tools, jigs and fixtures, and precision components for the electronics industry.

Electronics output rose 28.5%, driven by higher production of servers and related products, semiconductors and data storage products amidst strong AI-related demand.

Transport engineering grew 9.5%, led by the land and aerospace segments. Aerospace output increased on higher aircraft parts production and sustained maintenance, repair and overhaul jobs from commercial airlines.

General manufacturing industries grew 1.5%, supported by higher production of beverage products, commercial printing, and metal doors and windows.

Biomedical manufacturing increased 0.4%. Medical technology output rose on stronger export demand for medical devices, partly offset by lower pharmaceutical production due to a different mix of active pharmaceutical ingredients.

Chemicals output fell 12.7%, dragged by the petroleum and petrochemicals segments. Petroleum production was affected by plant maintenance, whilst petrochemicals remained constraine

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
