Olam Group closes down digital farmer services platform to conserve cash

606 employees will be affected by the reorganisation.

Olam Group has announced that it will shut down Jiva Ag, the digital farmer services platform developed by the group’s Nupo Ventures.

A total of 606 employees will be affected by the closure..

Eight employees are from Singapore, 531 are from Indonesia, 66 are from India, and one is from Australia.

Olam said that it is supporting impacted employees with redeployment opportunities within the group, or severance packages aligned with local regulators and practices. They will be provided with outplacement services and access to its employee assistance programme.

According to Olam, it reported a loss of $13.2m related to the impairment of intangible assets within the incubating businesses segment in its H1 2025 results. This was primarily associated with Jiva Ag.

The group said it expects to book and announce one-off costs estimated at up to $11.5 m (US$9m) related to the closure in its H2 2025 financial results ending December 31, 2025. The costs are not expected to have a material impact on the group’s results in the current financial year.

The intellectual property associated with Jiva Ag will be retained by Olam Group or one of its subsidiaries.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
