SIA Group passenger traffic up 5.4% in August

This drove the PLF up 2.3 percentage points to 88%.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group’s passenger traffic grew 5.4% year-on-year, exceeding the 2.7% rise in capacity.

The passenger load factor (PLF) climbed 2.3 percentage points to 88%.

SIA recorded a PLF of 86.9%, whilst Scoot hit 91.9%. Combined, the airlines carried 3.6 million passengers, up 9.4% from a year ago.

On the cargo side, front-loading demand moderated, leading to a modest 0.5% year-on-year increase in loads, below the 2.3% growth in cargo capacity.

Consequently, the cargo load factor fell by 0.9 percentage points to 55.2%.

As of the end of August 2025, the SIA Group’s passenger network spanned 129 destinations across 37 countries and territories, with SIA serving 78 destinations and Scoot 73.

The cargo network covered 133 destinations in 38 countries and territories.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
