F&B sales up 10.4% in January

It was driven by the Chinese New Year.

Food & Beverage (F&B) sales rose 10.4% year-on-year in January 2025, up from 0.8% in December 2024, according to data from Singstat.

The increase was due to Chinese New Year falling in January this year instead of February.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, F&B sales grew 4.9%.

Total sales were estimated at $1.1b, with online sales making up 23.6%, down from 24.9% in December.

Food caterers saw the highest growth at 31.8%, whilst restaurants and fast food outlets rose 17.7% and 11.2%, respectively.

Meanwhile, cafes, food courts & other eating places dropped 2.2%.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
