ComfortDelGro JV signs $3.26b Copenhagen Metro operations deal
The 12-year contract covers four metro lines.
ComfortDelGro's joint venture with France's RATP Dev, KBH Metro Partner, has signed a $3.26b (DKK17b) contract with Denmark’s Metroselskabet to operate and maintain Copenhagen Metro Lines M1 to M4 until 2039.
KBH Metro Partner will coordinate with Metroselskabet and current operator Metro Service on the transition, including setting up operations and retaining experienced employees.
The joint venture will also support the planned modernisation of Copenhagen's oldest metro lines, M1 and M2, in the years leading up to 2035.
The upgrades will involve replacing trains and signalling systems whilst minimising disruption to passenger services.
The signing follows the joint venture's selection as the preferred operator in August.
The 12-year contract includes an option for a further three-year extension, with operations scheduled to begin in September 2027.
The Copenhagen Metro operates four lines covering 44 stations and 43 kilometres of track. It carried 135 million passengers in 2025, with average service reliability of 99.3%.
Metroselskabet is owned by the Danish state and the cities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. It oversees Metro operations but is legally required to appoint a private operator through a tender.
The deal marks the third automated metro project undertaken jointly by ComfortDelGro and RATP Dev.
