Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS passenger service set for February 2027

Final system tests are due by 31 December before safety certification and regulatory approvals.

Passenger service for the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is now expected to commence in February 2027, according to a joint statement from the Land Transport Authority of Singapore and Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport.

RTS Operations Pte Ltd (RTSO) has informed both agencies of the revised timeline, which remains subject to the company obtaining independent safety certification for the RTS Link and securing final regulatory approvals.

RTSO expects to complete its final system tests and trial runs by 31 December, followed by safety certification from an independent safety assessor.

“Infrastructure works in both Singapore and Malaysia are substantially complete and remain on track to support passenger service upon the satisfactory completion of the remaining testing and commissioning activities,” the statement said.

Regulatory approvals to commence passenger operations can only be granted after authorities from both countries have reviewed and satisfied themselves with the independent safety certification.

The grantors said they will continue to work with RTSO to facilitate the smooth and safe delivery of the project.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
