Singapore Airlines’ passenger capacity up by 9.2% in October

SIA and Scoot carried a combined 3.3 million passengers.

The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group saw a 9.2% increase in passenger capacity to 15 million in October 2024, whilst passenger traffic grew by 7.4%.

The group’s passenger load factor (PLF) was 1.4 percentage points lower year-on-year (YoY) at 86%, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 86.1% and 85.4%, respectively.

The two airlines carried a combined 3.3 million passengers during the month, up by 7% from a year before.

During the month, Scoot expanded the group’s Southeast Asia (SEA) network with the launch of services to Malacca, Malaysia.

Services to Ningbo, China, were suspended in line with Scoot’s regular review and optimisation of its network.

At the end of October 2024, the group’s passenger network covered 127 destinations in 36 countries and territories.

SIA served 78 destinations, whilst Scoot served 71 destinations.

Meanwhile, cargo loads rose 20.2% on the back of higher peak season shipments and freighter charters, outpacing the 14.3% expansion in cargo capacity.

Consequently, the group’s cargo load factor increased by 3 pp to 59.1%.

The cargo network comprised 131 destinations in 37 countries and territories.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.

Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.

We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.

If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
