Safran invests $28m to expand Singapore MRO facility
The new landing gear overhaul capabilities are expected to create nearly 100 jobs by 2030.
Safran Landing Systems has inaugurated a $28m (US$22m) expansion of its maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Singapore, strengthening its capacity to serve aircraft fleets across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
The project, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board, adds a 7,500-square-metre extension to the existing facility.
The new space features an assembly line for landing gear overhauls, providing Safran with greater capacity and flexibility to meet demand from regional airlines.
The Singapore site offers end-to-end landing gear maintenance services, including disassembly, inspection, machining, surface treatment, assembly and final certification.
It supports aircraft including the Airbus A320 family, A330, A350 and A380, as well as the Boeing 737 and 787 and ATR regional aircraft.
The facility currently employs 360 people. Safran expects the expansion to create nearly 100 jobs by 2030, accompanied by continued training and talent development.
The investment will also support the introduction of advanced repair technologies and broaden the range of aerospace repair work conducted in Singapore.
The expanded building includes 800 solar panels covering 2,800 sq m, alongside energy-efficient lighting and cooling systems.
Safran expects the solar installation to generate renewable electricity equivalent to approximately 60% of the site’s consumption.
