Ultraformer MPT HIFU treatments are highly recommended for patients who appear to have the symptoms of aging, but are hesitant to go under the knife. This non surgical treatment is best to treat fine lines, wrinkles, saggy facial and neck skin. Doctors can further assess your qualifications during a pre-treatment HIFU consultation. Ultraformer MPT HIFU is not recommended for patients who have dermal fillers and facial implants, so it is crucial that these details are communicated to your doctor before undergoing HIFU treatment.

Q: How many sessions of HIFU is needed?

Patients will see results from 1 session of HIFU. HIFU should not be done as mini sessions as it requires a focused intensity to achieve the threshold for effective results of lifting and tightening. These mini-HIFU sessions may have less downtime but do not achieve any results as the intensity is rarely achieved.

Q: How soon can I see results after HIFU?

What is Ultraformer MPT HIFU?

Ultraformer MPT (Micro Pulsed Technology) HIFU is a 4^th generation HIFU device that uses advanced micro and macro ultrasound energy for non-invasive face lifting, skin tightening and facial contouring. The treatment works effectively even in relatively narrow and curved areas of the face such as the cheekbones, forehead and crow’s feet, which was difficult to treat with the older HIFU devices.

Offering interchangeable micro and macro focused ultrasound modes at multi-depths, Ultraformer MPT caters to different skin concerns and allows for treatments to be tailored to one’s unique needs. In general, shallower focal depths (1.5mm) is ideal for applications such as wrinkle reduction and firming the skin around the eyes and forehead at shallower skin areas. HIFU can also target as deep as 4.5mm, reaching the SMAS layer (the same layer that is tightened in a surgical plastic surgery facelift) to provide lifting, skin tightening, and face and body contouring.

With the introduction of Micro Pulsed technology, Ultraformer MPT treats the skin at a 2.5x faster speed and 25x finer targeted control points with impressive accuracy. Skin tightening and lifting is often experienced within days after HIFU treatment, and results continue to improve gradually over the next 1-3 months as the production of new collagen continues to build gradually.

HIFU Treatment Process: What to Expect

Prior to HIFU treatment, numbing cream is applied and areas to be treated are segmented and marked. One or more cartridges of varying depths is then applied to the different marked zones on the face or body. When shots are administered, patient may feel some discomfort akin to a muscle ache. The sensation is generally tolerable and of higher comfort compared to older HIFU devices as MPT technology delivers each shot into smaller micro-pulses and more rapid treatment time. Following treatment, it is normal to feel some tenderness and redness which should subside within 1-3 days.

The cost of HIFU treatment vary greatly for several reasons, such as the brand and type of machine used, the number of shots delivered and the service provider. It is important to note that HIFU is classified into medical-grade and non-medical grade HIFU. In Singapore, medical-grade HIFUs are performed by doctors in aesthetic clinics and dermatology clinics while non-medical grade HIFUs are performed by therapists and aestheticians. While non-medical grade HIFUs needs repeated treatments every few months, medical-grade HIFUs are designed to be longer lasting with results lasting up to a year or more.
