We all face challenges in our lives at some point. Even the strongest and most successful among us do.
Sometimes we overcome these challenges ourselves.
Sometimes with the help of our family and friends.
Sometimes we just need some extra help, and that is perfectly okay.

At Sofia Wellness Clinic, we believe that seeking therapeutic support should feel as normal and accessible as taking care of your physical health. Just as we go to the gym to care for our bodies, therapy is a meaningful form of self-care for your mental and emotional wellbeing.
Our individual counselling services in Singapore provide a private and supportive space for you to talk openly about what you are going through. Therapy gives you the space to better understand yourself and work through these challenges at your own pace.

FAQs about Individual Adult Counselling
What to expect during my first session of individual counselling?
Your first counselling session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other in a safe and supportive environment. During the session, your therapist will ask questions to better understand what you have been experiencing, the challenges you are facing and what you hope to gain from therapy.
There is no pressure to share everything immediately, you are encouraged to go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. All counselling sessions are kept strictly confidential, except in situations where there are safety or legal concerns that require disclosure.
What kinds of problems can be addressed through adult counselling?
Some of the common problems faced by adults that can be addressed through counselling include:
- Depression and anxiety
If you suffer from depression or experience panic attacks, counselling can teach you how to cope with negative emotions and convert them into positive thoughts and feelings.
- Conflicts between a couple
Marriage counselling can aid in reducing tension between a couple by helping them understand the source of their problems and think from each other’s perspectives.
- Stress and anger management
With the help of stress and anger management therapy, you will learn new ways of coping effectively with these emotions.
Is it possible to only go for one session of counselling?
The first counselling session serves as an assessment and evaluation where our counsellors get to know you better and understand your current situation. This gives them an idea of what your needs are and how they can be better addressed in subsequent meetings. Therefore, multiple sessions of counselling are required in order to observe significant improvements in your condition. It is recommended to attend at least 6 to 12 weeks of therapy, however, this can vary depending on the individual.
In general, counselling is the most effective when sessions are planned on a regular basis, such as once a week or once every two weeks.
How do I choose the right therapist?
You can fill up our New Client Appointment Form and our team will recommend a therapist based on your concerns, preferences and goals. We take into consideration factors such as the therapist’s areas of expertise, therapeutic approach and experience to help ensure you feel comfortable and supported throughout your counselling journey.
What if I feel nervous about starting therapy?
Feeling nervous about therapy is completely normal, especially if it is your first time. Your therapist will guide the conversation at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you. There is no pressure to share everything immediately. Therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, and it is okay to take things one step at a time.
