How much does a Notary Public charge in Singapore?

Notary Public fees in Singapore are fixed by statute under the First Schedule of the Notaries Public Rules (Cap. 208, R1). For witnessing of one document by one signer, the all-in cost is S$202.20. For one certified true copy of a single-page document, the all-in cost is S$172.20. Both totals include the mandatory SAL Apostille fee of S$87.20 (S$80 + 9% GST).

Is the SAL Apostille fee paid to the Notary Public?

No. The Apostille fee of S$87.20 is a statutory disbursement paid by the Notary to the Singapore Academy of Law on the client's behalf. It is not retained by the Notary Public or the law firm.

Can I bundle multiple documents under one Notarial Certificate?

Bundling is only permitted for certified true copies (CTC). Multiple CTC documents may be bundled under one Notarial Certificate, subject to the overseas recipient accepting a bundled NC. Witnessing cannot be bundled — each document signed before the Notary requires its own Notarial Certificate and its own Apostille.

How much can I save by bundling certified true copies?

Bundling savings scale with the number of documents. For 5 CTC documents, bundling saves S$648.80. For 10 CTC documents, bundling saves S$1,459.80. Bundling is only available where the overseas recipient is prepared to accept a single bundled Notarial Certificate.

Where do I collect the Apostille after notarisation?

After notarisation in our office, the client personally brings the notarised document to the Singapore Academy of Law at 1 Coleman Street, #08-06 The Adelphi, to collect the Apostille. No further payment is required at the SAL counter. An e-Apostille alternative may be available, subject to the overseas recipient's confirmed acceptance.

Notary public fees: where your money goes

The Notaries Public Rules prescribe fees for specified notarial acts. Your total depends on the work required, the number of Notarial Certificates and any additional services.

Each Notarial Certificate (NC) must be accompanied by a SAL Apostille. The S$87.20 SAL fee (S$80 plus 9% GST) is paid through our office to the Singapore Academy of Law. It is not retained by the firm.

Hardcopy Apostille collection is a separate step. You or your representative must bring the notarised documents to SAL after your appointment. Collection by our firm must be arranged separately and attracts a service fee.

NC means Notarial Certificate. Totals include the SAL fee and exclude optional services. Corporate execution and special requirements need a separate assessment. Witnessing is based on one signer per document; additional parties on the same document: S$20 (2nd party) / S$10 (3rd onwards); each exhibit S$10. CTC is based on single-page documents; subsequent pages of the same document: S$2 per page.

Using this notary public fee guide

Apostille fee. Pay the SAL fee through our office with the notarial fees. It applies to each Notarial Certificate. You do not pay the same Apostille fee again at SAL.
Check before bundling. Several CTC documents may share one NC only if your overseas recipient accepts that arrangement. Separate certificates may be required. Witnessing cannot be bundled; each witnessed document or separately signed duplicate needs its own NC and Apostille.
Collect the hardcopy Apostille separately. After notarisation, you or your representative must bring the Notarial Certificate and attached documents to SAL at 1 Coleman Street, #08-06 The Adelphi. Our firm can assist with collection by prior agreement for S$50 per trip; courier delivery is separate.
Electronic option by prior arrangement. Hardcopy is our usual mode. An e-Notarial Certificate and e-Apostille require prior confirmation of suitability and recipient acceptance. A printed e-Notarial Certificate has no legal effect. Electronic issue does not remove personal attendance for witnessing. Read the electronic-service guide.
Additional charges. Extra signers, exhibits and further pages may add to the notarial fees. Outcall attendance, courier delivery, photocopies and document procurement are separate charges. The calculators show the available options; the final fee depends on the documents and agreed services.

How much does witnessing one signature cost?

For one person signing one document, the estimate is S$202.20: S$40 for witnessing, S$75 for the Notarial Certificate and S$87.20 for the SAL Apostille. Exhibits and optional services are extra. How much does a certified true copy cost?

For one page with a separate NC, the estimate is S$172.20: S$10 for examining and certifying the copy, S$75 for the Notarial Certificate and seal, and S$87.20 for the SAL Apostille. Additional pages of the same document are S$2 each. Accepted bundling can reduce the number of certificates and Apostilles needed. Use the CTC fee calculator.

Are all notarial charges fixed by law?

The prescribed scale applies to specified notarial acts. It does not make every firm’s final invoice identical. The work required, additional services, disbursements and any applicable GST affect the total. The SAL fee shown already includes GST.

Does the fee include collection from SAL?

No. The SAL fee covers the Apostille, not collection by our firm. For the usual hardcopy process, you or your representative attend SAL with the notarised documents. If you want us to collect, arrange this in advance. A separate service fee applies.

Can I obtain an Apostille without using a Notary Public?

Eligible Singapore government documents may go directly to SAL if your recipient does not require notarisation and accepts that route. This may avoid notarial fees. Check the document’s eligibility and the recipient’s requirements first. See our direct SAL Apostille guide.

What if my original document is digital?

A PDF scan alone is not proof of an original. Official digital records may be suitable where the issuing source can be independently verified, for example through a QR code, verification link or OpenCerts file.
