Q: What is Singapore probate online?

Q: Do I need a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration?

Where the deceased left a valid will naming an executor, the executor applies for a Grant of Probate. Where the deceased died intestate, meaning without a valid will, the court appoints an administrator under a Grant of Letters of Administration. Q: Can a foreign grant of probate be used in Singapore?

Not on its own. A grant issued by a foreign court has no automatic effect here, and banks, insurers and the land registry will not act on it alone. If a court in a Commonwealth country or Hong Kong issued the grant, you apply to reseal the foreign grant in Singapore. The court then issues a Memorandum of Resealing, and the grant takes effect as though a Singapore court had granted it.

Q: What documents do you need to start a probate application?

That depends on the deceased’s domicile and on whether they left a valid will. The usual starting documents are the death certificate, the last will and any codicil, and identity documents for the deceased and the applicant. Q: How much does probate cost in Singapore?

Fees are not fixed, because every estate differs in complexity. Submit our probate quote and we will reply with an estimate, or read probate fees and how to engage us.

Q: I am overseas. How do I sign the probate documents?

If you sign probate court documents outside Singapore, you must sign them before a Singapore Consular Officer at a Singapore overseas mission, or before a Notary Public practising in the country where you are staying. Q: Is the original will always needed?

The court expects the original will, but you can still apply if the original has gone missing. See applying for probate when the original will is lost.

Q: What happens after the grant is issued?
